80s Makeup Trends To Try This Summer
Eyes & Lips
While traditional makeup ‘rules’ (though I don’t agree with sticking to them!) suggest you should choose between statement eyes or lips, 80s looks follow a more is more philosophy, so a bold lip and a statement eye can be worn together for full effect. Check out Jo Baker’s Instagram for inspiration.
Blue Eyes

Blue eyeshadow was the colour of the 80s! The brighter the better, so choose a colour that pops against your skin tone and sets off your eyes (if in doubt, a neon cobalt will always stand out from the crowd). Check out this look I created on my Instagram to see how to combine blended blues and greens with blue lashes.
Metallics
The 80s brought with them more pigmented makeup formulations and new tones and textures, which meant an increase in popularity for metallic shadows. For a bold party look, add metallic shadow to the inside corner of your eyes and smudge out below, like this green smoky look on my Instagram.
Bold Blush

Hot pink and red blusher had a major moment in the 80s, so take a maximalist approach to your cheek colour to nail the 80s makeup trend. Rather than clashing against different colours on your eyes or lips, wear the same blush on your lids and leave lips nude and glossy or add a velvet matte colour.
Perfect this technique by reading my guide to draping.
